Millionaire's Beach

Last Friday was a Hong Kong holiday, Buddha's birthday, so we planned a little outing with our friends, the Bryant family.  They know how to get around and they shared with us a beach called Millionaire's Beach, which is found off the coast of Sai Kung.  We secured a speed boat to take us there...about a 15 minute boat ride.  We have actually taken a junk boat there, but thought the kids would enjoy exploring the rocks and playing in the sand more than jumping off the boat and swimming out to the beach.

We had SO much fun! It was a hot day, but cloudy, so the heat wasn't too oppressive. The kids had a ball playing in the water, which was cool but felt good on the hot day. They also explored the rocks and tide pools, as well as played in the sand.  Sarah was our toughest customer.  We have realized that it takes her some time to get used to the beach...and she doesn't do the water...but soon she was loving the sand and enjoyed the rocks, herself.

After several hours on the beach, the boat picked us back up and took us to a popular restaurant where we ate plenty of calamari, noodles, rice and other yummy cuisine.  We also lucked out because while we were eating at the restaurant, the rain came in and it just poured! Although the restaurant is outdoor seating, we had a roof over our heads to protect us.

It was such a lovely day and a great alternative to a junk boat, which was very popular that day going out of Sai Kung.  We had the beach just about to ourselves, and while I may have gotten a bit too much sun, we have nothing but great memories and cant wait to go back!
